Work together with EIT FAN to reduce the environmental impact of food production by enhancing crop and livestock productivity in a sustainable way

Access to network, mentoring, collaboration and investment opportunities Deadline passed

Get in the Ring together with EIT Food Accelerator Network are looking for impactful agricultural startups that transform the food system in a more sustainable one. Work with partners like BASF SE, PepsiCo, Südzucker, KWS SAAT, ICL Group, Grupo AN, John Deere, Zoetis, and ABPBeef to tackle this challenge.

There is a need to reduce the GHG emissions from livestock and increase the crop yield, quality, and resilience. To reduce the footprint of crop production, we need solutions that enable us to efficiently use sustainable resources in the production process (e.g. energy, water, and land) and novel solutions for sustainable crop protection approaches, such as bio based crop protection or alternative weed control via robots.

In the livestock industry, animal health is becoming increasingly important in relation to animal welfare and sustainability. Production losses and resource wastage could be reduced significantly through early detection of diseases and by improving animal health generally, reducing GHG emissions and contributing to producers’ ability to meet increasingly strict government regulations. New solutions to protect animal health while enhancing animal welfare and environmental sustainability along the livestock value chain need to be developed.

The challenge

To meet food requirements for a rapidly growing population, we are seeking methods and technologies to build new sustainable agricultural production approaches.

Crop Genetics

Gene editing and novel breeding technologies to improve crop traits for better yields, resilience, and quality.

Crop protection

Novel approaches or solutions to efficiently protect crops from diseases, pests and competition by weeds to improve yield and quality together with the possibility to enhance biodiversity.

Nutrition and Water Management

Novel fertilizers, plant stimulants and technologies to improve the efficiency and stability of crop and soil nutrition.

Crop Processing, Storage & Distribution

Sustainable post-harvest technologies to protect crops during storage and logistics.

Precision farming

Robotics, drones, devices, sensors, and machinery that enable precision farming practices and/or deliver decision support to farmers.

Livestock curing and monitoring

Data-driven agri-tech solutions for precision livestock farming to improve productivity, sustainability, and animal wellbeing.
