Water Domain Focus

With the Bayer Social Innovation Award, we are on the lookout for water solutions in the domains of health and agriculture, impacting UN Sustainable Development Goals 6.

Initiative of

Bayer’s vision “Health for all, Hunger for none” guides all activities to foster a high quality of life on a healthy planet. The protection of all natural resources is an integral part of Bayer’s commitment towards sustainable development. Water is the foundation of good health and nutrition. Yet, 2.2 billion people globally are today without access to safe drinking water. Nearly half of the global population is already living in potential water scarce areas at least one month per year. The lives of millions in underserved communities are threatened by the water crisis – innovative solutions are needed. As a global protagonist of agriculture and health, Bayer wants to address this together with social innovators and enable local communities to thrive.

"Water is the foundation for everything – it forms the basis for good health and nutrition. But this foundation is threatened: Many communities in the Global South lack access to safe, efficient and clean water. Innovative solutions created for and with the local population are desperately needed. With the Bayer Social Innovation Award, we want to support water entrepreneurs and enable communities to change their course of life – through one of the most precious resources: water."
