Today, Unknown Group announced that the global meetup of their Get in the Ring global startup competition will be held in Montreal. Previously hosted in cities like Singapore and Berlin, this 7th edition will now be held in North America for the first time in partnership with Regroupement des Jeunes Chambres de Commerce du Québec (RJCCQ).
Get in the Ring gives startups from all corners of the world the chance to prove their solutions in order to solve our 21st century challenges.
In a year round competition, together with partners in over 180 cities, activities are organized to select the most promising startups worldwide. During the competition, startups are connected to business opportunities to test and scale their solutions. All partners and winners of these activities are invited to join the global meetup, a 3-day entrepreneurial conference.
This year the global meetup focuses on specific themes related to 21st century challenges, such as energy transition and access to food. The world’s smartest minds will come together to test and scale innovations that have potential to make a great contribution to these global challenges.
Previous participants of the global meetup achieved great success. EyeVerify were acquired by Alibaba for $100mln dollars and DOT incorporated, who solves the challenge of visually impaired people entering the digital world, raised more than $6mln after winning the competition.
Speaking of the initiative, co-founder of Unknown Group Hendrik Halbe said:
“Solving global challenges requires unconventional solutions. We cannot solve societal, environmental or governmental challenges alone, it takes a collective mindset and global effort. Unknown Group believes that by connecting innovations from around the world to powerful decision makers, we have a real chance of changing the world for the better.”
Over 250 startups and hundreds of investors and industry leaders are expected to participate in the Get in the Ring global meetup hosted in Montreal. Montreal will become an entrepreneurial melting pot, with startups visiting from cities all over the globe; from Miami to Ouagadougou and London to Kabul.

During the 3 days, the conference will take place in various locations in Montreal and is organized in partnership with Regroupement des Jeunes Chambres de Commerce du Québec (RJCCQ) and multiple local partners.
