Together with YES!Delft and the MRDH, Get in the Ring is looking for innovative solutions to give the municipalities of Wassenaar and Krimpen a/d IJssel tools to manage the traffic flow, provide real-time traffic density information or guide people to alternative means of transport. The municipalities of Wassenaar and Krimpen a/d IJssel are committed to tackling the traffic flow in their regions. Not just to battle the effects of pollution, but to increase traffic safety and understand its root cause and work together with their residents to create awareness and a change in behaviour in the region. Wassenaar and Krimpen a/d IJssel are located close to essential highways that link other cities in the region.

 

For the municipality of Krimpen a/d IJssel, the main focus is on creating an efficient traffic flow while at the same time stimulating people to use sustainable and healthy means of transport.

The Municipality of Wassenaar would like to reduce the amount of traffic by creating awareness among drivers and offering technological solutions that help people make more sustainable and healthier choices. Reducing the maximum speed limit to 30km/h is one of the currently researched options.

The Challenge

The Trafic Control Challenge aims to find European startups that can help change people’s mindsets and habits by guiding them to alternative, more sustainable means of transport. The objective is to reduce traffic flows and improve the quality of life for the inhabitants.

Real-time traffic density information

Solutions in the domain of real-time traffic density information can be for example in the direction of AI predictive analysis and IoT-enabled sensors.

Alternative means of transportation

Solutions in this domain should be on how to guide people on the use of alternative means of transportation.

Guidance of traffic flow

Solutions in this domain should be focused on the guidance of the traffic flow.

What's in it for you?

Additional Requirements

  • Have a team with at least two co-founders and creative data scientists

  • Have had already a successful MVP or prototype

  • Have a scalable solution

  • Have a platform that can present that data comprehensible to the inhabitants, and that platform can be configured in Dutch
