THE CHALLENGE
HEINEKEN needs innovations that make sustainability and its brands act ‘cool’ in order to show the world that green is in their DNA. By cracking innovations that reduce packaging materials, make cooling act smart or lead the way for sustainable distribution, HEINEKEN aims to reduce their CO2 emissions and contribute to achieving the COP21 sustainability goals. We are looking for start-up companies with solutions that can reduce the carbon footprint. For this, five topics of interest have been identified:
Smart use / reduce of materials
e.g. new approach to packaging materials
New eco-friendly sources for brewing products
e.g. different ingredients requiring less resources, thereby saving emissions while providing an unique benefit and/or story
Reuse of ‘waste’ for products
e.g. reuse of ingredients, repurpose of waste for merchandise / visibility items
Smart solutions for cooling & distribution models
e.g. reduce energy and save emissions, whilst serving consumers with cold beers & ciders at home or out of home
Solutions that drive societal change
e.g. effectively driving or changing consumer behaviour towards sustainability
