All collected data is tructures, coded and multilingual making is easy to integrate in other Dr/hospital software and so alleviating the administrative burden.

BIOPIX-T is producing a novel portable molecular testing (platform) device and the associated tests, for the point of care.
The problem
Up until recently most molecular testing devices that involve nucleic acid amplification for the detection of a pathogen, were expensive and rather cumbersome and could not really be of service at the point-of-need where they would be most useful. Alternative testing methods for the detection of pathogens (rapid tests) are not nearly as accurate and do not provide important information about the load of the target under investigation (e.g. viral load) which may be important for the decision on the course of action or the monitoring of a treatment.
The solution
BIOPIX-T has produced a cost-effective molecular testing device branded as “Pebble”, which is truly portable measuring 18cm x 10cm x 5cm and weighing under 300grams. It is operated through any android device and can test up to 6 samples at once. The testing time required is up to 30’ per run, without the need for any prior preparation of the collected sample. It is manufactured with off-the-self electronics in combination with3D printing and can run on a battery. It costs many times less that other comparative devices and produces lab quality quantitative results. It was designed with low resources settings in mind and can offer in this pandemic the much-needed accurate testing at the point of care, in both the developed and developing countries.

Haptic feedback technology has clearly demonstrated its value in a research setting: Wearables with this technology allow users to keep their eyes, ears and hands free, receive information in an intuitive way and may even improve, correct or replace missing body functions or senses (e.g. sense of balance, vision). Additionally, the integration of various sensor types (e.g. heart rate, pressure, temperature, etc.) into textiles offers tremendous potential for a wide range of useful and commercially viable wearables.
However, commercial and robust applications of the technology are few and far between. Our purpose is to develop products that are robust enough for long-term use and designed to be produced at a large scale, while adding real value to the user:

1. BalanceBelt – the BalanceBelt is a health & well-being wearable that uses haptic feedback to help patients suffering from severe balance disorders find their balance and regain their independence.
Patients suffering from severe balance disorders such as Bilateral Vestibular Loss (BVL) experience severe imbalance and difficulty walking. By providing haptic feedback on the wearer’s body position and balance, the BalanceBelt helps BVL patients move around freely without relying on others, walking sticks or wheelchairs.
2. NeuroShirt – The cognitive load of a Neurosurgeon is very high during long surgeries (up to 12 hours). The surgeon continuously needs to switch between microscope and NeuroNavigator (visual load). Furthermore, the surgeon is in constant communication with other operating theatre personnel as well as beeping sounds regarding the state of being of the patient.
The NeuroShirt is intended to decrease the visual load of a Neurosurgeon by using the sense of touch to give information on the location and distance of critical structure. This allows the surgeon to switch less between visual tasks and still receive accurate feedback.
The NeuroShirt has been under development in collaboration the Utrecht University hospital (UMCU) since 2017.

The problem
Snoring is no harmless matter & often underestimated. It’s mostly caused by a muscular weakness in the mouth and throat. The tissues become flaccid & obstruct the flow of breath during sleep. In severe cases, snoring can even lead to breath intermittent sleep (OSA) which can result in symptoms such as tiredness during the day, general loss of performance, & in the long term even stroke or heart attack. In cases of heavy snoring the life expectancy can be reduced by up to 10 years. In OSA patients, the risk of hospitalization for COVID 19 & subsequent respiratory failure increases more than fourfold. Overall, OSA increases the risk of contracting SARS-CoV-2 eightfold. Currently we are working on the SnoreFree CE certification as a medical product class 1 in cooperation with the Johner-Institute in Germany. CE is the prerequisite for the submission of the DiGA application at the BfArM & for the inclusion in the list of apps with a health insurance certificate. The Johner-Institut has developed the DiGA application & after our workshop with them, they do not see any obstacle for the approval of SnoreFree as a DiGA.
