Flat6Labs and RiseUp Egypt organized on 12-13 December the third edition of the RiseUp Summit in Cairo. Get in the Ring was the closing ceremony of this successful event. In front of an audience of 1000 visitors, potential investors and a team of four champions, the best startups of Egypt faced off against each other in the boxing ring. The team of champions consisted of four high profile people: Fadi Antaki – CEO, A15, Mike Butcher (Editor at Large – TechCrunc), Jared Friedman (Partner, Y Combinator) and Sharif El-Badawi (Partner Lead, VCs and Startups, Google).
In the first battle was between the startups Slickr and Worc. The crowd got really excited to see the startups pitching head to head against each other in the Ring at the Collège des Frères. In the end the champions announced Slickr as Lightweight winner. Slickr is a social network tailored to fashion with e-commerce and 3D fitting tech integrated. Slickr helps people discovering products online, making sure they get the right fit and allowing them to make the purchase directly through our platform.
For the title of the middleweight winner, The Welness Log and Solariz Egypt pitched in the Ring. After five brief rounds Solariz Egypt won the battle and awarded winner of the middleweight class in Egypt. Solariz Egypt was created to address Egypt’s energy crisis by providing an alternative to conventional power. The company is a certified solar EPC that designs, installs and commissions PV solar power plants offering commercial, industrial and residential electricity consumers the option of complementing their conventional energy supply with solar power.
Keep an eye on the winnings startups Slickr and Solariz Egypt as they will be representing Egypt in the Regional Final Middle East on the 15th of February in Riyadh!
