Work with Deutsche Bahn AG to innovate railway construction using robots and autonomous machinery

POC, 25K NON EQUITY, ACCESS TO NETWORK AND EXPERTISE Deadline passed

Get in the Ring and Deutsche Bahn AG are looking for startups with disruptive, innovative solutions to implement autonomous machines into the railway construction process.

The Deutsche Bahn AG (DB) is one of the world’s leading mobility and logistics companies, transporting 2600 million passengers a year. DB has a mission to drive progress and shape the future. Together with other leading companies from the railway and construction field, DB has founded the “Future Initiative of Railway Construction” (Zukunftsinitiative Bahnbau) at the beginning of 2019 with the aim to increase digitization in the railway construction industry. One of the measures to increase this is by discovering the most promising solutions and innovations that can help improve and automate railway construction processes across all execution phases.

To reach this goal, DB mindbox has launched the 100-day Proof-of-Concept program. During this program startups have the opportunity to develop their PoC in collaboration with DB and some of the other participating companies of the challenge: Rhomberg Sersa, DB Netze, DB Bahnbau Gruppe, STRABAG, Leonard Weiss Bauunthernemung, Spitzke, Jaeger Bernburg, KAF Falkenhahn and Max Bögl.

THE CHALLENGE

We are looking for startups that want to collaborate with Deutsche Bahn AG to implement autonomous machines and robots across the various phases of railway construction projects. In many industries, disruptive improvements have already been achieved using autonomous machines. There is also great potential for automated and robot-assisted services in railway construction technology to improve efficient and speed within the project and safety for the workers. Whether individual process steps or entire process chains – innovative autonomous solutions are attractive for numerous operations in construction projects.

We’re looking for the solutions:

Task-specific autonomous machines

Autonomous machine solutions that are able to independently execute steps in railway construction processes. This also includes highly advanced machinery, instruments or tools that are controlled remotely. For example: Welding, grinding or cleaning.

Acceleration and combination of autonomous processes

We're looking for solutions that are able to effectively maintain and control more complex process chains for railway construction projects, or are able to combine multiple task to improve or speed up activities. For example: multi-robot construction solutions

Autonomous maintenance and improvements

Solutions that are able to autonomously maintain and improve tracks, bridges, overhead lines or that have other applications for railway maintenance.

Out-of-the-box solutions

Any other innovative solution that could potentially have an impact and disrupt railway construction projects.
