Transition the energy portfolio towards a more sustainable future with NAM

pilot contract, expert coaching, 50k cash prize Deadline passed

Get in the Ring and NAM, the largest gas producer in the Netherlands, are looking for large scale energy storage solutions to make the transition towards sustainable energy sources.

One of the biggest challenges towards a more sustainable future is how to store large, or even massive, amounts of renewable energy for a long period of time. With a solution to large scale energy storage, renewable energy will be available whenever we want it. Even when the demand of renewable energy is higher than the supply. Large-scale energy storage solves the issue of seasonal imbalance and that will result in an acceleration of the energy transition.

NAM70 Challenge is initiated by NAM. Over the past 70 years, NAM has worked on the exploration and production of gas and oil in The Netherlands. As one of the largest energy producers in the Netherlands, they play an important role in the energy transition, with the aim of significantly reducing CO2 emissions. As the time for energy transition is now, NAM is evolving to meet the demand of reliable energy. Marking their 70th anniversary, NAM takes this opportunity to kick-start a fresh outlook on a more sustainable future.

THE CHALLENGE

The NAM is looking for innovative energy solutions to store large, or even massive, amounts of renewable energy. The solution should store energy for a long(er) period of time, in order to balance seasonalities. The solution has to be ready for application in an operational environment and should be scalable. Interesting technologies include: P2G, geothermal energy storing, carbon capture and storage, electrification storage, and more.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU

  • Pilot contract;

  • Two months incubation period with expert coaching

  • 50k cash prize

REQUIREMENTS

You should

  • have a solution tested in the lab or in small scale test facilities;

  • be able to launch a finished product within the next 12 months;

  • have a solution that is compatible with the current energy system (based on gas).
