In 2015 the annual production of plastics has reached 381 million tonnes, with most of it becoming waste. It’s clear now that there is an urgent need for an economy that is circular. Such a circular economy can only be achieved through cooperation between companies, governments, NGOs and the consumers themselves. Nowadays, however, achieving the necessary level of cooperation is practically impossible. It requires an unprecedented level of trust and transparency among all players, which cannot be achieved without addressing privacy/confidentiality at a fundamental level. To address this problem, Circularise is developing a way for all the parties in the value chain to become transparent while never exposing sensitive information. We believe that digitising assets such as raw materials, waste and recycled materials has the potential to boost recycling, improve resource use, open new markets for secondary raw materials, and advance the transition to a circular economy. In addition, our solution enables companies to put a premium on their sustainable product offerings, giving them a financial incentive to get involved in sustainability and circular economy.

 

The solution
Circularise helps OEMs and Manufacturers to trace raw materials from source, into parts and ultimately to end products. By digitising materials on blockchain Circularise is able to create a digital thread through the whole supply chain. It’s innovative technology enables companies to show “good-stewardship” practices towards customers and regulators on a public blockchain system, at the same time maintaining control over information that gives them a competitive advantage. We have a proven track record of working with companies such as BASF, Covestro, Domo Chemicals, Stanley Black & Decker, Arcelik, Porsche and a number of their Tier 1-2 suppliers in a paid pilot setting. As a supply chain transparency provider, in the most recent project with Porsche we enabled the traceability of plastics on blockchain to ensure the use of sustainable materials in Porsche cars. By digitizing materials Circularise was able to create a digital thread through the whole supply chain, enabling material traceability, tracking the CO2 footprint and other sustainability metrics like water savings. Recently partnered with the EU-level trade association of European plastics converters (EuPC) to use Circularise as the digital platform to monitor the rate of the plastics recycling activities in Europe. Moreover, we have partnered with the Alliance to End Plastic Waste to tackle the plastic waste problem through digital innovation.

We solved the inefficiency of shippers in transport management. Logistics expending can consume about 12% of a company’s net revenue, with 95% of all freight contracts are made manually, the lack of visibility of deliveries generates extra costs, delays and angry customers. In addition, 7% of the freight charged is incorrect and 22% of the documents have some kind of divergence. There are many logistics provider, complex rates and many integrations. The shipper loses money, and for us, the customer, we have a more expensive product because this inefficiency.

Concrete is the most used building material in the world (7.4 Billion m3 each year( but concrete is also responsible for 8 % of the CO2 footprint yearly. We make self-healing concrete that needs less maintenance, has a longer lifespan, and is easier to apply.

 

The solution
Self-Healing concrete is being made by adding Basilisk Healing Agent into the concrete. Healing Agent containing (harmless) bacteria spores, nutrients, and special activators and has no influence on the properties of the concrete. But when a cack occurs (and it WILL) and moisture will enter the crack, the spores will be activated. The bacteria produce limestone that heals the crack. After healing the bacteria will stay dormant (as a spore). When anew crack occurs the whole rocs start over again. This is autogenous self-healing for concrete. Invented by the University of Technology in the Netherlands. Patented all over the world.
