In only 4 days the national final of South-Africa will take place at #HouseoftheFuture in Johannesburg. The road to the final was a special one in 2015 and reflected the increasing interest in start-ups and entrepreneurship also in South-Africa. Way over 300 start-ups applied for a spot in one of the 3 local rounds.
The first local final took place in Vaal Triangle on the 27th of August. 21 startups came together at the North-West University. Jury members Win Cordukes, Shane Jeffry and Leonie Greying selected Phat Pat Catering, Solar Bliss, and NewTech Rail as the proud winners of the day. Read more about the startups here.
The next local final took place in Johannesburg on the 17th of October where Fredel Jacobs from Innovation hub hosted the event in front of 70 visitors that saw the start-ups Adfire Creative M3dia, Tousca and UmoyAir Communications convincing the the jury panel. The jury consisted of Fredell Jacobs, Jeremy Lang, Zuhayr Panchoo, Brian Walsh and Martin Gering. During the day a variety of workshops was given to participants to better prepare their pitch, learn more about how to improve their company and to increase networking opportunities.
4 days after the local final of Johannesburg, on the 21st of October the organizing team moved on to Cape Town to host the last local round of 2015. At Workshop it was Math Hotseat, SnappSales and Stokvella. They were chosen by 3 jury members: Themi Stergianos, Anton Roelofse and Vasili Sofiadellis.
