The entrepreneurial community of Costa Rica came together on 18th of November in San Jose for the National Final of Get in the Ring. The event was organized by Yo Emprendedor. 32 startups were selected for the qualifiers and filtered down to the final 6 startups for the final battle of Get in the Ring.
The final 6 pitched in front of 340 visitors and jury of distinguished champions. The champions consisted of leading members of Costa Rica: Luis Javier Castro (president of Yo Emprendedor), S. Fitzgerald Haney (U.S. Ambassador in Costa Rica) Alejandra Castro (lawyer), Clotilde Fonseca (former Minister of Science, Technology and Telecommunicatios), Jhon Fonseca (Minister a.i. of Foreign Trade). These 5 champions chose GASPRO, Balanced Energy and Gosocket as the three most promising startup of Costa Rica.
GASPRO was the lightweight winner of Costa Rica. GASPRO is a control system for service stations which includes vehicle fleets, inventory and station staff. The middleweight winner was Balanced Energy. This company is developing a system to convert waste plastic into fuel. Finally, Gosocket was the final winner of Costa Rica in the heavyweight category. Gosocket is a business to business based on compliant electronic invoices in Latin America that offers value added services with a focus in supply chain finance. The winning startups receive mentorship on their startup and an invitation to attend a gala dinner with the champions, but will also represent Costa Rica in the Get in the Ring Northern America Regional Final in Mexico on 4 February 2016.
