In this fast-changing world, it is necessary that education is up to date with the current trends in society. Innovators have been working incessantly and creating truly revolutionary solutions that make education easier, faster, better and, most importantly, more relevant for all.
We found eight disruptive startups doing exactly that and wanted to share their good work with our community to inspire more innovators to do the same. Check it out.
1. TeachKloud
TeachKloud is a cloud-based pre-school management platform. Their purpose is to make it easier for teachers to deal with paperwork, so they can focus on what is really important: the children.
They spoke with over 1,000 preschool teachers and found that 2 to 4 hours is spent on paperwork every day. Also, 88% of preschool teachers said that keeping up to date with regulations and paperwork was their biggest challenge.
With this app, teachers can track their pupils’ attendance, make bills for invoices and fees, create learning journal with stories, observations and records, access teaching resources and communicate with parents, which end up being more involved in their child’s education.
2. Uniwhere
Uniwhere is an app that makes students’ lives a lot easier. In this application, university students can find all the information concerning their studies and have the appropriate tools to plan their career in the best possible way.
With data-driven information, they can understand what is the best professional path for their future, how to get there, what they need and how to get it, all of this based on their profile. They are also very concerned about students’ privacy and never save or sell the information in their servers.
3. Play2Speak
Play2Speak is a cool game that allows the user to learn a language with virtual reality. The user immerses himself in a world of adventures where they can practice conversation and, with the help of a personalised report system, evaluate their speaking proficiency.
The game is called The Secret of the Puffin Cove and features a charismatic tour guide that takes the user on an adventure on the coast of England. They can chase a ghost story and navigate a stormy weather. Play2Speak combines Artificial Intelligence with the use of immersive technologies.
4. Evalbox
Evalbox is an online test maker software. It allows a real assessment system with hassle-free online tests making process and online tests scheduling, diversification, automatic grading, automatic archiving, enhanced security and advanced cheat prevention algorithms.
Like TeachKloud, its purpose is to reduce the bureaucratic work teachers need to do and make sure they are focusing on their students and the content delivered to them. It is compatible with computers, mobile phones and tablets.
5. iThrive
Students often face many challenges during their study years, from personal blockades to feeling demotivated or burned out, it is easy to go off track. iThrive is a personal coach app who wants to make sure every student is feeling good about themselves and who they are.
They have developed a platform for digital training in behavioral improvement with the help of artificial intelligence focused on preventing stress and burnout. “That is why our mission is: we want the individuals to do well, to be healthy and strong. People who get the best out of themselves have a big positive effect on our society”.
6. PlagScan
PlagScan is a software that can check the authenticity of a text and works with all common file formats. Often students and teachers face the problem of needing to make sure text is not plagiarized, many times, they are not even aware of the fact that ideas and words can be owned by someone, which causes both intentional and unintentional plagiarism. The aim of the platform is to protect the copyright owner and ensure originality in the texts.
7. DXTR Labs
DXTR Labs creates standard toys, with smart building blocks that collect data about children’s performances and empowers them to grow to their natural potential. Purely through play, parents can understand what their children are capable of and help them develop even further.
It is a supportive and positive tool that provides parents with historical and personalized information about their children to guide them in their decisions. Parents can choose the amount of information being collected and whether or not to keep track of it. They have the possibility to receive information about their children’s progress on the games that are designed around different cognitive functions like memory, visuospatial skills, planning, dexterity. Allowing them to see how these cognitive functions are growing in their children.
<Kids!Can!></CODE> wants to engage children in coding. They offer 8 world class 90-minute computer science classes for primary students ages 8-12. Their mission is to foster creativity, imagination and curiosity by engaging in rigorous computer science content. They believe that learning to code can open many possibilities, just like learning to read does.
Right now, they offer a program in Introduction to computer science, where kids explore the beginning and intermediate computer science concepts. At the end of the course, they will have had the opportunity to learn invaluable related skills, such as how to collaborate, how to think creatively and exposure to the following languages: Scratch, HTML, JavaScript.
