The Coronavirus is spreading globally and has affected regions all over the world. The Get in the Ring Global Competition travels to all corners of the globe, so it is essential that we take into consideration the impact of the virus in each individual region.

For some communities, large gatherings and social interactions are not recommended. Therefore, Get in the Ring events will not be held physically, postponed or taken online. However, for those communities currently not seriously affected by Coronavirus, our local events may still go ahead.

The decisions we make are all aligned with the recommendations and policies of local authorities, and have been thoroughly checked.

The list below shows all planned selection rounds and the measures we have taken to ensure the safety of participants:

One of the decisions we have taken is to postpone our annual Global Meetup to February 2021. As you can imagine, this was a difficult decision for us to make but due to the diversity of communities from over 100 countries attending, we have decided that this is the best way to ensure the wellbeing of all participants.

As the final of the global startup competition is traditionally held at the Global Meetup, the postponing of the Global Meetup also affects the competition season. The competition season will therefore be extended until December 2020.

All winners of local and online selection rounds and innovation challenges from September 2019 – December 2020 will be invited to the Global Meetup, held in February 2021.

We’re all in this together. Get in the Ring isn’t just a competition, it’s a way to connect with like-minded people, to discover innovations, to solve global challenges and to feel part of something bigger. We encourage our community to connect with each other online, share your stories, create some hope and  join forces.

Despite the current spreading of this virus, we think this provides us all with an opportunity to bring our communities together. We see 4 ways to do this:

Plan something local in your region

At times like this, we all rely on our communities. Get in touch and plan a Get in the Ring activity in your local area. This way you can bring some energy and excitement back into the local environment.

Get online

If you already planned an event and your region has been affected by the virus, we have now introduced a new online format. This means that your event can still go ahead, but it will be completely online. Send us a message to find out how it works.

Continue the conversation

We’re always looking for new ways to take Get in the Ring to new levels. Whether that be with video content, online media or podcasting. If you have an idea about how we can continue the conversation surrounding innovations across the globe, let us know.

Find a solution

We exist to solve global challenges. As part of our global community, we encourage you to mobilize resources and unconventional solutions for preventing, handling and managing the current and coming pandemics. The European Union just announced a new fund to support startups with solutions to help those affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.
