In a spectacular awardshow, 6 startups participated in three different categories for the title of Global Winner. Over five thousand startups had participated in the Global Competition, but at the end of the night, Dutch startup LifeSense Group was crowned as the 2017 winner of the Global Startup Competition.

In a packed Club Millian in Singapore, 600 innovation lovers witnessed the intense competition in the lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight category. LifeSense Group who create wearables with healthcare applications for women won the prestigious competition in the heavyweight category.

A jury consisting of three ‘champions’ chose the winning startups out of 6 participants in the final. Over 5000 startups from 80 countries took part in the competition, of which only 150 startups were chosen to fly to Singapore for the Global Final. James Tan, managing Partner of Quest Ventures was responsible for the judging together with serial entrepreneur Jay Krishnan and Singaporean angel investor Shao-Ning Huang. Apart from LifeSense Group the other two winners were Edupass and Hargol Foodtech.

In the lightweight category, Edupass was crowned the winner with their great initiative to help students get into the university of their dreams. This is possible because of their network of over 100 experts and a 96% success rate.

The middleweight category saw an intense battle between Flex Appeal and Hargol Food Tech go head to head for the win.

Hargol Food Tech triumphed in the battle with their innovative technology that enables them to grow grasshoppers and use them as a sustainable protein source.

Jay Krishnan is a serial entrepreneur with over 20 year experience and is currently CEO of T-Hub Hyderabad, India’s biggest startup incubator.

Shao-Ning Huang was the Managing Director/ Group Deputy CEO of JobsCentral Group. Now she is an angel investor and startup advisor.
