With the support of The National Research, Development and Innovation Office, Enterprise Hungary Nonprofit Kft. is organizing the Get in the Ring competition in Budapest for the third time, on 24 November 2016. The event will welcome Central and Eastern Europe’s best startups from 13 countries.

Get in the Ring is the world’s most popular global startup competition, which is implemented within the framework of a unique show to  fight for investors. The concept of Get in the Ring  differs from traditional pitch competitions. The representatives of 8 startup teams can qualify for the event and enter the ring. Similar to boxing matches, the teams have 5 rounds to convince the jury that their business offers the most promising investment opportunity.

“Get in the Ring is more than just a simple startup competition. The innovative concept makes the whole competition a much more spectacular and exciting event than conventional ones, while providing a unique opportunity for startups to gain professional reputation, network of contacts and land investments. The Olympic comparison is not a coincidence, since this year 80 countries will participate globally in the competition.“ – said Bence Katona, the main organizer of the event.

Get in the Ring Budapest accepts applications of startups which already have a validated business model, a completed prototype and are especially looking for external sources to enter the market. The main purpose of the competition is to provide an opportunity to join the global startup ecosystem of startup businesses, to establish a personal contact with professionals in the field or obtain investment for their businesses.

This year Get in the Ring Budapest will welcome candidates from 13 European countries: Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Croatia, Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania and Ukraine.

A jury consists of internationally recognized professionals in the startup community. Bence Katona added:

“Our aim is to raise Get in the Ring Budapest to a level of a decisive startup event in the region, for which I believe we have all the capabilities. I cannot reveal all the names, but I can gladly say that the jury’s work will be supported among others by the leaders of Techstars from London, the Estonian Startup Wise Guys and members of the Austrian Pioneers Ventures.

Get in the Ring Budapest will take place on November 24th, 2016 at the Aquarium Club, where the 8 most promising startups will fight for victory. The winner of the event in Budapest will get an investment offer of 200,000 Euros and will participate in the Get in the Ring Global Final. All the costs will be covered by the organizer. This year there is a great fight between New York and Singapore to organize the finals.

The event is under the patronage of the President of The National Research, Development and Innovation Office, Dr. József Pálinkás. The opportunity offered by the competition is clearly demonstrated by the fact that the winner of last year’s event, Practify received an investment of 800.000 € directly from a professional investor involved in the work of the jury.
