It’s not about where you live, talent is everywhere around the world”,  these were the words of our co-founder Hendrik Halbe during his opening speech.

And so it has begun. The Global Meetup 2019 is finally here. 138 startups and more than 300 corporates, network partners and investors have arrived in Berlin for 3 days of networking, unlocking business opportunities, being inspired and, of course, exploring the city and having fun.

Opening dinner

To start off with the right foot, guests were invited to an opening dinner at the Hofbräu Tavern Berlin. It is a traditional place in the city, where the guests got to experience an authentic German vibe, with music and food. “Having an informal dinner is a way to make sure everyone gets to know each other before they start doing business. It is important that they make valuable personal connections, and not just dive right into business meetings”, says Get in the Ring co-founder, Jochem Cuppen.

For FanSaves, one of the startups attending, this dinner was the ideal way to start off the Global Meetup. “The setting is really cool, the food is amazing, but the people are what makes this event really cool. We met so many different people from so many different nations and different startup industries We didn’t know what to expect but, so far, it exceeds any expectations and it’s only the first day”, said the founders Shannon Ferguson and Kris McCarthy.

Program

The next 2 days will be all about unlocking business opportunities, getting to know each other better and exploring the future of innovation. Tomorrow, guests will participate in the Future Sessions. Each person has been carefully placed in a Future Sessions that matches their expertise and field of interest. Together, startups, corporates, and key industry players will explore the future of 8 industries: cleantech, hightech, fintech, food and agri, health, mobility, workforce and enterprise software. These sessions will also be combined with one-on-one meetings between the startups and corporate innovators.

And on Wednesday, the 19th, the guests will go on innovations tours to HelloFresh, Tierpark Berlin, Phineo/ Omi potence ventures, Bosch Startup Harbour, Hubraum, Ape Unit, 3YOURMIND, Audatic, Penta, Element, Ubitricity and Garamantis. There will hear stories from successful innovators, discuss where the industries are going and how to stay relevant, and visit truly inspirational locations and some of the biggest innovative hotspots worldwide.

The most awaited moment will be the final show, when 6 of the most promising startups worldwide will battle in the Ring to see which ones are the Global heroes.

Stay connected to our social media channels for more information and follow the Facebook livestream of the final event on the 19th at 20:30.
