Frequentely asked questions

What is the Global Meetup?

The Global Meetup is a 3-day entrepreneurial retreat that brings together 150 selected startups from around the globe with a group of innovation professionals and investors. It is a chance to connect and create partnerships with some of the best talent and renowned business leaders around the world.

Who is going to the Global Meetup?

150 selected startups from all over the world. These have been selected as part of the Global Startup Competition by Get in the Ring, either during local events in their countries or through the public voting that will run in April. Together with innovation professionals, and investors passionate about innovation, eager to see the latest developments in all industries and ready to help startups scale.

What are the advantages of going?

One place. 3 days. One of the biggest start hubs in Europe. 500 people passionate about innovation. Chances to scale. The opportunity to expand your network. Global exposure. Need more reasons? We have them.

A live startup competition for the title of lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight winner of 2019 and an investment fund.

I want to go. How can I do that?

To attend the Global Meetup you can buy a 3-day pass for €395 via this link. In order to be able to compete for the title and investment fund, you need to earn a spot in the final of the Global Startup Competition. You can do that by participating in one of our local competitions, being awarded a wildcard, or participating in the public voting.

Can I buy a 1 day pass?

No, that is not possible. The program is designed to create the ultimate value for the guests and we believe only participating in the full program can create this.

What can I expect from the Global Meetup?

You can expect three days of finessing your business, unlocking opportunities, meeting like-minded people and learning from some of the world’s brightest minds, we promise you will leave feeling completely rejuvenated

Who can compete in the Ring?

Selected startups will be asked to compete in the Ring. These are either winners of local events, those who have been awarded a wildcard or won the public voting. There will be a selection process during the event to decide which ones will battle live on stage.

How is this pitching competition different from the others?

It is more dynamic, engaging, fun and entertaining. By incorporating boxing ring elements into the competition, it becomes easier and a lot more fun to pitch. It is not about a 3-minute pitch in front of an investor, but a dynamic show that engages the whole ecosystem in the region. Anyone, even those unfamiliar with innovation, find it entertaining to watch the show and get to know the innovative solutions startups come up with. It is a way to involve the whole ecosystem and bring more attention to startups.

How are the categories (lightweight, heavyweight and middleweight) divided?

Any startup can battle, from any industry. It’s about having a good concept and story. The thing that makes that battle unfair is when they are in different stages. That is why we have, like with a real boxing match, weight classes to divide the startups. Lightweight are startups valued up to 0.5mln USD, middleweight 0,5 to 2.5 and heavyweight 2.5+

Where is the Global Meetup 2019 and why?

This year, the Global Meetup will be in Berlin. It is one of the hottest startups hubs in Europe at the moment. One startup is founded every 20 minutes there, they have a lot of international talent, and an incredibly developed ecosystem, ready to welcome innovators.

Why is the Global Meetup in a different place every year?

Because it brings an extra dimension to the meetup, making it much more a community event, giving our network the opportunity to explore new ecosystems every time they join us.
